Abstract

Muslim faith stipulates that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is the last Prophet and his Prophet-hood will not devolve to anyone till the Day of Judgment. Despite this, false claimants to Prophet-hood kept coming but were rejected by the Muslim Community and kept getting consigned to the dustbin of history. One of those claimants was Mirzā Ghulām Ahmad Qādiānī who claimed to be a Prophet in 1901 in British India. All the major Muslim schools of thought and sects of the region concurred that Qādiānī and his followers were not part of the Muslim Ummah. So it was continuously demanded to declare Qādiānī and his followers as Non-Muslim. In Pakistan they were declared as non-Muslims in 1974.  This article summarizes the legal and constitutional struggle to get Qādiānīs declared as non-Muslims in Azad Kashmir, which ended in declaring them non-Muslims in 2018.
